I talked to some students who went to grad school at CMU and most of them recommend living in Oakland, so that's what I'm leaning towards right now. The bus routes seem pretty adequate. Coming from the SF Bay Area, Pittsburgh real estate is heavenly! There's a 1B/1Ba listing I just emailed for $600/month -- I'd expect something similar to be $2k in SF. Something else I found interesting: although rent is cheap, Airbnb's near CMU are not proportionally priced. I.e., most places around CMU are ~$70/night on Airbnb.

Thanks for opening this forum, Nima!
I've been wondering what everyone is doing for housing as well. I plan on living in Oakland or Squirrel Hill, there seems to be a lot of options.
Would anyone be interested in living together/sharing an apartment?

Hi Nina, Kazu
I and Aum Jadhav are sharing a 2B/1Ba in Shadyside with one more friend. We went for Mozart Apartments as they have relatively alright reviews on Yelp and the location is very convenient (close to a CMU Shuttle stop, medical centres, and other stores). Although the rent is $1500p.m which is relatively expensive
